Abbott is seeking a Patent Agent to help lead IP strategy within the General Counsel division. This on-site role spans patent data analytics, portfolio decisions, and cross-functional collaboration across medical devices, diagnostics, and nutrition tech.

The ideal candidate will own IP strategy workstreams, build dashboards, and translate complex analyses into actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, data science, or related field.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO.
• 10+ years of experience in patent analytics, IP strategy, or data analytics.
• Experience with Power BI or comparable dashboards.
• Strong analytical and cross-functional project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Own IP Strategy workstreams from scoping through execution and align with leadership needs.
• Proactively communicate progress, risks, and tradeoffs to stakeholders.
• Aggregate, clean, and analyze patent data to support portfolio reviews and planning.
• Develop repeatable analytical frameworks and dashboards for structured insights.
• Improve data acquisition, organization, and governance for patent analytics.
• Evaluate AI-enabled tool adoption to streamline patent analysis and insights.
