Job summary

Orion Placement in Irvine, CA is seeking a patent attorney to draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications involving electrical engineering and computer science.

This full-time, on-site role offers a competitive salary and the chance to work directly with experienced practitioners on complex matters. Candidates must be active California attorneys with 1+ year of patent prosecution experience and a relevant technical background.

Qualifications

  • Active California Bar license.
  • 1+ year of patent prosecution experience.
  • Electrical Engineering or Computer Science background.
  • Patent prosecution experience from a BigLaw firm or established IP boutique.
  • Strong patent drafting, technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work full time on-site in Irvine.
  • USPTO registration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, prepare, and prosecute U.S. patent applications involving sophisticated technologies
  • Analyze invention disclosures and translate complex technical concepts into strong patent applications
  • Prepare responses to USPTO Office Actions and advance applications through prosecution
  • Work with inventors, engineers, executives, and clients to understand technologies and develop effective patent strategies
  • Conduct patentability analysis and support intellectual property portfolio development
  • Participate in examiner interviews and other USPTO prosecution matters
  • Coordinate with colleagues and foreign counsel on domestic and international patent matters
  • Manage deadlines, case priorities, and multiple patent prosecution matters with a high level of accuracy
  • Take increasing ownership of client communication and patent strategy as your experience grows

Pay: $160,000.00 - $230,000.00 per year
