This range is provided by Bochner PLLC. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Base pay range

$70,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

Purpose

The Patent Paralegal will be responsible for drafting and filing US and PCT related patent documents and assisting in the preparation of foreign related patent documents. The Patent Paralegal will communicate with clients and support patent attorneys.

Essential Functions

  • Prepare patent documents related to various phases of US and Foreign patent filings with appropriate government agencies.
  • Communicate with attorneys, patent agents, clients/inventors, and foreign agents regarding the status of patent applications.
  • Coordinate and maintain calendars, follow up on items to ensure due dates and deadlines are met.
  • Proactively review and maintain docket and communicate with firm’s attorneys regarding status and deadlines of patent matters.
  • Organize and maintain electronic client files.
  • Maintain positive relations with internal clients and co-workers and contribute to the self-directed team structure to assist with overflow and specialized tasks within guidelines set by the firm.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ Patent Paralegal experience within most recent employment history required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of USPTO patent rules and procedures.
  • Knowledge of filing requirements and procedures for Paris Convention and PCT applications required.
  • Proficient in the creation, revision, and filing of patent documents; reviewing and maintaining a docket; and managing all forms of client communication required.
  • Must have strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Pro required.
  • Excellent knowledge of grammar, spelling and punctuation required.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills required, with the ability to shift priorities quickly without compromising deadlines or quality required.
  • Ability to write and demonstrate exceptional communication skills required.
  • Ability to sustain close working relationships with attorneys, colleagues, and clients required.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team by assisting co-workers when required.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and adapt interpersonal skills to a variety of audiences required.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking skills and detail-oriented required.
  • Demonstrate multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks required.
  • Ability to be resourceful, innovative and demonstrate problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to demonstrate behavior on a consistent basis that supports company values.
  • Ability to work remote from a US residential address, if not working in a designated company office.
  • Expected to be available and communicative during normal business work hours with flexibility to include evenings and weekends.
  • Must have a professional and distraction-free workspace that is free from safety hazards.
