Job summary

Diamond Personnel seeks a talented Patent Litigation Associate to join its Oakland, California office. The role focuses on sophisticated patent litigation and related IP matters, offering hands-on experience with trial lawyers.

Qualified candidates will have a J.D. and 3–7 years of litigation experience, including patent matters, and must be eligible to work in the United States. This on-site role offers mentorship, a partnership track, and a collaborative boutique environment in Oakland.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• 3–7 years of litigation experience including patent matters.
• Admission to the California State Bar or eligibility to waive in.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Excellent legal research, analytical and writing skills.
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions and briefs.
• Ability to work on-site in Oakland, California.
• Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with partners and counsel on sophisticated patent litigation matters.
• Conduct legal and factual research, investigations, and technical due diligence.
• Analyze patent infringement and validity issues.
• Draft legal briefs, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Manage and participate in all phases of discovery, including document review, written discovery, and deposition preparation.
• Prepare for and take depositions.
• Collaborate with technical experts and expert witnesses.
• Assist with case strategy, trial preparation, and complex litigation proceedings.
• Participate in client matters involving intellectual property disputes and other high-stakes litigation.
• Take on increasing responsibility in case management, courtroom proceedings, and trial teams.
