Job summary

BCG Attorney Search seeks a highly motivated Patent Attorney for our Tampa office. The attorney will handle a range of intellectual property matters, focusing on patent protection, strategy, enforcement and client counseling.

The role involves drafting/prosecuting patent applications, reviewing IP agreements, and performing patentability and due-diligence analyses in the mechanical arts. Florida bar admission is required and a mechanical engineering background is preferred.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of patent preparation and prosecution experience in the mechanical arts.
  • Licensed to practice law in Florida.
  • Strong writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a highly motivated Patent Attorney to join its office in Tampa, Florida. The successful candidate will work on a variety of intellectual property matters, focusing on patent protection and strategy, enforcement, and client counseling.

Duties
  • Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in mechanical engineering fields.
  • Draft and review intellectual property and technology-related agreements and licenses.
  • Provide patentability, freedom to operate, and due diligence assessments.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in the mechanical arts.
  • Excellent academic credentials and strong research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task efficiently, and think independently.
  • Licensed to practice law in Florida.
Education
  • Juris Doctor, higher degree, or equivalent in Law.
  • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar engineering degree and/or work experience.
Certifications
  • U.S. Patent & Trademark Office registration.
