Responsibilities include drafting U.S. and foreign patent applications in mechanical engineering, conducting due diligence, and advising on freedom-to-operate issues. A strong academic record and excellent communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree or equivalent in law.
• Engineering degree in mechanical/biomedical/aerospace/civil or similar.
• Bar admission in Missouri or eligibility to practice law there.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute U.S. patent applications and foreign filings for mechanical engineering subject matter.
• Review IP agreements, licenses, and technology-related contracts.
• Provide patentability, freedom-to-operate, and due diligence assessments.

Duties

• Draft and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications in mechanical engineering fields.
• Draft and review intellectual property and technology-related agreements and licenses.
• Provide patentability, freedom to operate, and due diligence assessments.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in the mechanical arts.
• Excellent academic credentials and strong research, writing, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task efficiently, and think independently.

Education

• Juris Doctor, higher degree, or equivalent in Law.
• Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering, or similar engineering degree and/or work experience.

Certifications

• U.S. Patent & Trademark Office registration.
• Licensed to practice law in Missouri.
