Job summary

BCG Attorney Search in Austin, TX seeks an experienced Patent Agent with semiconductor background to draft patent applications and respond to USPTO communications. You will support attorneys by discussing inventions with clients and providing reports, while liaising with inventors and the PTO.

The role requires 3+ years in patent prep/prosecution, strong analysis and communication skills, and the ability to travel as needed. Hybrid work with in-office days is offered.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution in the semiconductor industry.
  • Self-starter with a can-do attitude and excellent academic credentials.
  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and draw inferences from research findings.
  • Strong investigative and problem resolution skills.
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks under time constraints.
  • Ability to travel as needed for client matters.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare draft patent applications incorporating scientific aspects of inventions.
  • Draft responses to communications from U.S. and foreign patent offices.
  • Discuss scientific aspects of inventions with clients and provide reports to attorneys.
  • Act as liaison between inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office.
  • Evaluate and report on technological aspects of inventions.
  • Advise attorneys on technologies and investigate as needed.
  • Draft, organize, analyze, review, and summarize documents.
  • Communicate with staff, clients, vendors, and PTO personnel.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks under time constraints.
  • Identify and solve complex patent issues.
  • Provide guidance to legal support staff.
  • Stay updated on technology trends and make recommendations.

Duties
