Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare draft patent applications incorporating technical aspects of inventions.
  • Draft responses to USPTO and foreign patent office communications.
  • Explain scientific concepts to clients and provide reports to attorneys.
  • Serve as liaison between inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office.
  • Evaluate technological aspects and report on inventions.
  • Advise attorneys on technologies and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Draft, organize and summarize documents for filings.
  • Conduct regulatory and factual patent research.
  • Coordinate workflow with outside service providers.
  • Identify and solve complex patent issues.
  • Provide guidance to legal support staff.
  • Stay updated on technology trends and patent prosecution issues.

Job Overview

A law firm seeks a Patent Agent specializing in high technology to join their Intellectual Property team in Dallas, TX. This role involves performing complex client work with a focus on drafting patent applications and responses to the USPTO, supporting attorneys in delivering efficient legal services.

Duties
  • Prepare draft patent applications incorporating scientific aspects of inventions.
  • Draft responses to communications from U.S. and foreign patent offices.
  • Discuss scientific aspects of inventions with clients and provide reports to attorneys.
