Job summary

BCG Attorney Search seeks a Patent Agent to join its New York City intellectual property team. The candidate will draft and prosecute patent applications, perform prior art searches, and collaborate with inventors and legal teams on patent strategies.

The ideal candidate has a BS in engineering or physics and at least 2 years of patent prosecution experience, with technical strengths in wireless standards, signal processing, or computer networking, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of patent prosecution experience.
• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Physics.
• Technical experience with wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
• Strong skills in patent application preparation and prosecution.
• Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective organizational and time-management skills.
• Superior verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Draft and prosecute patent applications, including preparing and amending claims, specifications, and responses to office actions.
• Conduct detailed technical evaluations related to wireless telecommunication standards, signal processing, or computer networking.
• Perform prior art searches and assess the patentability of inventions.
• Collaborate with inventors, clients, and legal teams to develop and implement effective patent strategies.
• Provide expert advice on intellectual property issues such as patentability, infringement, and freedom-to-operate.
