A law firm seeks a Patent Agent specializing in high-tech intellectual property for its San Francisco, CA office. This role involves complex client work, including drafting patent applications and responses to the USPTO, and supporting attorneys in delivering efficient legal services.
Duties
- Prepare draft patent applications incorporating scientific aspects of inventions.
- Draft responses to communications from U.S. and foreign patent offices.
- Discuss scientific aspects of inventions with clients and inventors.
- Act as liaison between inventors and the Patent & Trademark Office.
- Evaluate and report on technological aspects of inventions.
- Advise attorneys on technologies and conduct investigations as needed.
- Draft, organize, and summarize documents.
- Conduct regulatory and factual research.
- Coordinate workflow with outside service providers.
- Identify and solve complex patent issues.
- Provide guidance to legal support staff.
- Stay updated on technology trends and patent prosecution issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or electrical engineering preferred.
- Licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office preferred.
- Strong investigative and problem resolution skills.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks under time constraints.
- Knowledge of patent documentation standards.

Education
