We are seeking a registered Patent Agent with a degree and/or experience in biophysics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, data science or AI/ML (advanced degree preferred) to join the firm’s IP Transactions and Patent Prosecution practice. Duties include, but are not limited to, drafting patent applications and other documents during all stages of the patent prosecution process with the USPTO and with foreign patent offices; taking invention disclosures and coordinating and corresponding with inventors and clients; conducting and analyzing the results of prior art searches; and maintaining knowledge of the latest patent laws in order to assist internal and external clients with drafting legal documents. The ideal candidate will have experience managing clients as a first point of contact. Patent Attorney candidates should not be discouraged from applying.
The candidate should be registered to practice with the USPTO; attorney candidates should also be an active member and in good standing of the California bar. The position may be located in Los Angeles or San Francisco. Must indicate offices (s) of interest in application.
Minimum requirements: a registered Patent Agent with a degree and/or experience in biophysics, biomedical engineering, computational biology, bioinformatics, data science or AI/ML (advanced degree preferred). A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a registered Patent Agent, with 5+ years preferred. The role is open to Patent Attorney candidates as well. Ensure registration to practice with the USPTO; attorney candidates should also be active members in good standing of the California bar.

Employees are entitled to compensation commensurate with skill and experience. The full-time base annual salary for this position in the Los Angeles and San Francisco markets is expected to range between $180,000 and $250,000 for Patent Agents, and between $180,000 and $300,000 for Patent Attorneys. This range represents the firm\'s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting for a position in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Salaries in other markets will vary depending on market data. Bonus opportunities are non-guaranteed and are dependent upon individual and firm performance.
