Chicago office of a BCG Attorney Search Top Ranked Law Firm seeks a patent agent with experience in preparing and drafting patent applications and related patent analyses. The role includes conducting international patent and registered design research, performing patent and scientific literature searches and analysis related to patentability, validity, and infringement, and advising on patent filing strategies under U.S., Hong Kong/Chinese, and PCT international patent filing practice.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patent technical and design specifications/applications and draft patent applications for submission to the USPTO, Chinese patent office, and European Patent Office.
• Conduct international patent and registered design search and analysis and prepare patentability advice for clients.
• Perform patent and scientific literature searches and analysis relating to patentability, validity, and infringement.
• Prepare patent clearance and freedom-to-operate opinions.
• Prepare design applications and advise on patent filing strategies under U.S., Hong Kong/Chinese, and PCT international filing practice.
• Assist attorneys with prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO and in preparing Patent Clearance and Freedom to Operate opinions.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering or any Engineering field plus 3+ years of experience in the job offered or in wireless communications engineering.
• Must be registered to practice before the USPTO.
