Responsibilities

• Patch Planning & Coordination: coordinate patch schedules with stakeholders and obtain approvals prior to deployment.
• System Assessment & Patch Evaluation: identify patches, assess compatibility, run scans to determine needs.
• Patch Deployment Execution: apply patches to servers/workstations and place systems in maintenance mode as needed.
• System Validation & Recovery: verify functionality and return to full operation after patching; run post-patch scans.
• Compliance & Documentation: maintain patch records and checklists for audit readiness.
• Asset & Lifecycle Support: support system upgrades and antivirus updates; assist with backups.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: work with IT, cybersecurity teams and vendors during outages.

Patch Management Engineer

Strategic Staffing Solutions is currently looking for a Patch Management Engineer for a W2 contract opportunity in Detroit, MI!!

Location: Detroit, MI - Hybrid schedule (In office Tue, Wed, Thu)

Duration: 12+ month contract with eligibility for renewal.

Role Type: W2 contract

Required Skills:

• Knowledge of OT systems (DCS, SCADA, PI)
• Experience with patching tools
• Understanding of cybersecurity requirements
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Position Summary:

Responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and validating patching activities across OT systems, including control systems, PI infrastructure, servers, and workstations, ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards and maintaining system reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patch Planning & Coordination:
   • Coordinate patch schedules with stakeholders
   • Communicate with engineering, operations, and site leadership
   • Obtain approvals prior to patch execution
2. System Assessment & Patch Evaluation:
   • Identify and evaluate applicable patches
   • Assess system compatibility and operational risk
   • Perform scans to determine patch requirements
3. Patch Deployment Execution:
   • Apply approved patches to servers and workstations
   • Place systems in maintenance mode as needed
   • Follow approved procedures for deployment
4. System Validation & Recovery:
   • Verify system functionality after patching
   • Ensure systems return to full operational state
   • Perform post-patch validation scans
5. Compliance & Documentation:
   • Maintain patching records and checklists
6. Asset & Lifecycle Support:
   • Support system upgrades and antivirus updates
   • Assist with backup and recovery processes
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
   • Work with IT, cybersecurity teams, and vendors
   • Coordinate patching during outages and maintenance windows
