Job Title: Pastry Sous Chef

Location: Beefbar - New York City

Reports To: Executive Pastry Chef / Executive Chef

Position Summary:

Beefbar is seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Sous Chef to support our pastry program. The ideal candidate is an innovative and detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. As Pastry Sous Chef, you will work alongside the Executive Pastry Chef to create and execute a refined dessert menu that complements our globally inspired, beef-centric cuisine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in leading the pastry team in daily operations, prep, and service execution
  • Contribute to menu development with a focus on seasonality, creativity, and presentation
  • Oversee quality control, ensuring consistency and excellence in every dish
  • Train, mentor, and develop junior pastry staff
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all pastry workstations
  • Monitor inventory and manage ordering to minimize waste and control food cost
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards
  • Step into leadership in the absence of the Executive Pastry Chef

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of pastry experience in a high-end or fine dining kitchen
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience
  • Strong technical skills in pastry, baking, plated desserts, and confections
  • High attention to detail and creative flair
  • Knowledge of inventory, ordering, and kitchen operations
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
