Job summary

Pendry Chicago, part of Montage International, seeks a Pastry Cook I to craft desserts that wow guests and support banquet production. You’ll work in a luxury hotel setting, collaborating with kitchen teams to maintain quality and timelines.

You’ll leverage pastry techniques, train new staff, and contribute to innovative menu items while upholding rigorous sanitation and culinary standards.

Qualifications

  • Three years minimum of cooking experience in a standalone restaurant or hotel environment.
  • Knowledge of pastry techniques and cooking methods.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to collaborate in a team environment with excellent communication skills.
  • Luxury hotel experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the highest quality of food products for the restaurant and banquets, according to menu descriptions and hotel’s standards.
  • Regularly restocks kitchen supplies and food items along with maintaining the cleanliness of your area.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure timely preparation and execution of food orders.
  • Collaborate with associates to meet production goals and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Assist with training new kitchen associates.
  • Supervise and mentor pastry cooks and kitchen staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Create and innovate new menu items and specials.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of food products, sanitation standards, and culinary techniques.
  • Fulfill guest orders in a timely manner with attention to detail.
  • Deliver on guests’ expectations and create WOW moments.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.

Your Journey

Physical Requirements
  • Grasping, holding, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending over
  • Ability to stand and exercise mobility for extended periods of time during your scheduled shift
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and for extended periods during the shift
  • Ability to push and pull food serving equipment and carts weighing up to 200 pounds on a semi - regular basis

The pay range for Pastry Cook I is $23.50 - 24.50 hourly. The pay scale is the base hourly range, exclusive of incentive pay such as commissions, piece rates, gratuities, and the like, that Pendry reasonably expects to pay for the position.
