Sofitel Philadelphia at Rittenhouse Square is seeking a Pastry Cook to join our bakery team on a full-time basis. You will produce pastries and breads for two restaurants, room service, and banquets, ensuring desserts are delicious and visually appealing.

You will collaborate with the culinary team, manage your workstation during service, and support colleagues to deliver high-quality pastries from prep to plate, including early shifts starting at 5am when needed.

Qualifications

  • 3 years pastry experience in a pastry facility, shop or bakery.
  • Basic knowledge of cakes, dessert sauces, pastry creams and mousses.
  • Creative and passionate about pastries and customer service.
  • Early start availability (as early as 5am) and potentially late finishes (10pm) for Banquet/catering.
  • Positive, can-do attitude and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Polished appearance and poised demeanor when communicating with colleagues and guests.
  • Desire to learn and grow in a professional, chic environment.

Responsibilities

Job description

Pastry Cook (Full-Time)

The Pastry Cook performs highly diversified tasks and is responsible for pastry and bread production on their assigned shift for 2 restaurants, Room service and the Banquet facilities.


You will assist increating delicious memorable deserts for our hotel guests.


What you will be doing:


  • Qualified candidate will manage the production of pastries to include tarts, cakes, cookies, etc.

  • Work with the culinary team in the heart of the house in ensuring quality pastries are prepared in a timely fashion;service is seamless;and efficiency of the operation is executed.At times, you may be required to work autonomously and will be responsible for the management of your work station.

  • Collaborate with your leaders in the kitchen, with banquet managers and servers to service the pastry need of the guests. Provide support for your team members throughout service.

  • Exercise good judgment and intuition to anticipate needs of your team, managers, co-workers and guests. Take initiative to connect with your fellow Heartists, inquire about their guest`s experience, and ensureguest satisfaction.

  • Be empowered to lead pastry operations and address feedback from guests,and Food service colleagues.


Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:


  • 3years’ pastry experience in a Pastry facility, Shoppe or Bakery.

  • Basic knowledge of cakes, dessert sauces, pastry creams and mousses.

  • Creative and passionate about pastries and customer service.

  • Being an early bird, enjoy start working as early as 5am when required, and/or finishing a little late in the evenings (10p) where needed depending on Banquetand catering needs,being available for work on any day of the week.

  • A positive, can-do attitude and an ability to multi-task in a fast paced, exciting environment while working alongside a diverse group of colleagues

  • Skilled in communicating with colleagues with a polished appearance and a poised demeanor

  • Ability to naturally engage with anybody and show empathy; have genuine care and concern for both the well-being of our guests and fellow team members

  • A desire to learn and grow in a professional, fun and chic environment!
