Job description

Reports to : Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, position is Non-Exempt.

THE ROLE

The Pastry Cook reports directly to the Executive Chef and Sous Chefs, developing and executing scratch-made dishes and recipes. You should have honed your craft and possess basic culinary techniques. Being task-oriented and detail-driven, you work well with culinary colleagues and under the guidance of the Chef. Collaboration with culinary leadership is key, and your insights are valued for our shared success. Your passion is creating extraordinary pastries for our guests. At Aparium, culinary teams uphold high standards of respect, humility, and collaboration—egos are not tolerated. Respect for leadership and peers is essential.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Create innovative desserts to refresh menus and attract guests
  • Decorate pastries with icings, toppings, etc., to ensure beautiful presentation
  • Monitor ingredient stocks and make appropriate orders within budget
  • Check the quality of materials and condition of equipment
  • Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers for efficiency
  • Identify staffing needs, assist in recruiting and training
  • Maintain a clean, organized station and adhere to health and safety standards
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • Passion for culinary arts and experience across various cuisines
  • At least two (2) years of experience as a mid-level cook or higher, with a minimum of four (2) years in a hotel or restaurant kitchen
  • Proven experience as a Pastry Cook, baker, or similar role
  • High attention to detail and creativity
  • ServeSafe Certification
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Willingness to update professional knowledge
  • Deep knowledge of sanitation, food prep, baking techniques, and nutrition
  • Experience with allergen-free baking (gluten-free, sugarless, etc.)
  • Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking, or relevant field
