The Kitchen Bistro in Boulder is a community gathering spot featuring a seasonal menu and shared plates set in a modern, rustic atmosphere. The Pastry Cook is responsible for the creation of all pastry items, supporting the team and helping to maintain an exciting, inviting, and progressive environment. Responsibilities
- Assisting in Pastry Menu Execution
- Responsible for the appearance and taste of all pastry items to the restaurant’s standards
- Organizing and executing daily prep duties
- Communicating with the head Chef and Sous Chef regarding prep and menu items
- Maintaining organization, cleanliness, sanitation and maintenance of pastry equipment and area per Health Department regulations and restaurant standards
- Communicating with the Chef and/or Manager on Duty about all pastry‑related issues, menu changes, and updates before, during, and after service
- Receiving orders from purveyors and ensuring their accuracy
- Ensuring quality and standards are always upheld through proper food preparation and adherence to recipes
- Assisting the team as needed; performing related work as requested; modeling and promoting teamwork
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience preferred
- Excellent understanding of various ingredients, equipment, and procedures; passion for quality local foods and high service standards
- Superior temperament, adaptable nature, and good communication skills
- Demonstrated integrity in all areas, both personal and professional
- Able to operate effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Working Conditions
- Ability to perform functions at the restaurant level
- Working with hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment and office equipment
- Regularly required to stand, use hands, reach, talk, hear, taste, smell, and walk
- May be required to work in very warm or cold conditions for extended periods
- Occasional requirements to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Regularly lift or move up to 45 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
- Operation of high‑pressure steam boiler or high‑temperature water boiler

Salary
$18.00 per hour – $27.00 per hour plus service fee
