Job summary

Common Bond Bistro & Bakery in Houston, TX is seeking an Assistant General Manager/Chef de Patisserie to support the General Manager in running a high-performing Bakehouse and delivering high-quality pastry items. You will help create and produce new desserts, maintain par levels and rotate stock, ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and safety, and coach the Bakehouse team to meet recipes and yield guides.

This role requires pastry experience, staff leadership, ability to multi-task across orders,

Qualifications

• Food Handler's Card & Food Manager's Certificate where required by local and state health code regulations
• Must be able to stand an 8-hour shift
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
• Experience as Pastry Chef, baker, or relevant role
• Proficient with computer processes including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), Outlook, OneDrive
• Bilingual, fluent in English and Spanish

Responsibilities

• Prepare quality pastry items such as breakfast items, desserts, cookies, cakes, breads, creams, simple syrups, amenities, and special request items
• Create, develop and design new and exciting desserts with the General Manager for varying seasons
• Maintain complete knowledge of equipment use; operate safely
• Assist with receiving orders and rotation of raw ingredients and back stock
• Oversee Bakehouse team and ensure recipes and yield guides are followed
• Inform GM of supplies needed
• Check production schedule and pars
• Inform GM of shortages before items run out
• Maintain proper storage procedures per Health Dept and company
• Establish daily priority items
• Check quality of materials and equipment
• Minimize waste
• Maintain clean and sanitary work environment
• Train staff to standard performance levels and motivate team
• Identify staffing needs and help recruit/train personnel
• Assist GM with hiring/compliance
• Aid GM in administrative duties
• Communicate with storefronts, leadership, and vendors
• Additional duties as assigned
