Job summary

Lower Burrell Baptist Church in Lower Burrell, PA seeks a godly shepherd to lead the flock. We are a warm, multi-generational congregation; elder-led governance; doctrines of grace and expository preaching. The right man will be pastorally warm and deeply rooted in Scripture.

The pastor will preach weekly, administer the ordinances, perform ceremonies, provide pastoral care, and guide church life with the elder board. Compensation includes a four-bedroom parsonage and a comprehensive package.

Job description

Lower Burrell Baptist Church is seeking the man God has prepared to shepherd the flock He has assembled here in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania a bedroom community 20 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

We are a warm, multi-generational congregation of 45–55 worshipers, a blend of tradespeople, families, retirees, and young people who love the Lord, love each other, and are hungry to be led deeper into His Word. We are Doctrines of Grace theology, committed to expository preaching, and elder-led in our governance. We are looking for a shepherd. We are located approximately 25 minutes northeast from Pittsburgh, PA.

We believe the Bible is the inerrant, sufficient Word of God. We hold to the doctrines of grace, believers’ baptism by immersion, and a regenerate church membership. Our worship is Christ-centered, our preaching is expository, and our desire is to see the gospel take root in our congregation and reach into our community. We are a church that has been through seasons of transition and is ready to grow — not in flash, but in depth and faithfulness.

• Loves Jesus Christ and loves the people Christ has purchased
• Preaches the Word faithfully and accessibly — Reformed in conviction, clear in delivery
• Leads with humility, not ego — a servant-elder, not a corporate manager
• Meets people where they are without compromising where the Word calls them to go
• Is present with the flock, not just on Sunday mornings
• Is willing to grow with us — including leading a Sunday evening service and midweek gathering as the Lord opens those doors

Responsibilities

The Pastor will serve as the primary preaching and teaching elder, delivering the Sunday morning sermon as the centerpiece of his ministry. He will regularly administer the Lord’s Supper, conduct baptisms, officiate weddings and funerals, provide pastoral counseling, and give spiritual oversight to the life of the congregation in partnership with the elder board.

Compensation

We believe the church is responsible to care for its pastor so he can give himself fully to the ministry. We are committed to a compensation package that reflects that conviction.

A four-bedroom parsonage located on the church property

Compensation of $70,000 – $80,000 structured to include, per your needs, all of the following – salary and SSI offset, housing allowance, medical, professional expenses, and continuing education support. These allocations may be changed on an annual basis at the new year to meet your needs.
