• To step onto the Eastern Plains of Colorado is to enter a world entirely distinct from the rocky, snow-capped peaks of the Front Range. This is Colorado, but not THAT Colorado. Out here along the I-70 corridor, just about 30 minutes from the Kansas border, the landscape opens up into a sea of shortgrass prairie, massive horizons, and immense skies. At what we consider to be the heart of this region in Kit Carson County sits Vona, the middle town in a string of tiny, interconnected sister communities like Seibert, Stratton, Bethune, Flagler, and the larger county seat of Burlington.
