Job summary

Education Jobs NJ seeks a long-term substitute Special Education Teacher for a Preschool classroom at the Sewell School in New Jersey. The assignment is expected to last about eight weeks and requires NJ Teacher of Preschool through Grade 3 and Teacher of Students with Disabilities endorsements.

The instructor will implement IEP services, align instruction with the standard program, and collaborate with families and staff to support students with diverse needs.

Qualifications

• Hold a New Jersey instructional certificate with appropriate special education endorsements.
• Experience teaching children with exceptional needs.
• Demonstrate knowledge of IEP processes and assessment requirements.

Responsibilities

• Implement the educational program and IEP services for students.
• Coordinate instruction with the regular program to meet NJ standards.
• Maintain progress records and assist with evaluation and data collection.
• Participate in annual IEP development and reviews, and communicate with Child Study Team.
• Communicate with general education teachers and parents to support inclusion.
• Assist the paraprofessional and establish role expectations.
• Promote an inclusive climate for students with disabilities.
• Collaborate with administrators and staff to integrate students into the program.
• Prepare reports on individual pupils as required.
