Job description

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM
Position Type: Part-Time, On-Site

About the Position

We are a small manufacturing and distribution company looking for a highly reliable, organized, and detail-oriented person to take responsibility for our warehouse, shipping, receiving, purchasing, and inventory activities.

We are a hands-on position. This person will personally handle all of our daily warehouse activities, including picking and packing orders, shipping packages, receiving merchandise, counting inventory, placing purchase orders, and keeping the warehouse organized.

We ship both direct-to-consumer ecommerce orders and larger wholesale orders throughout the United States and internationally.

Extensive warehouse or international shipping experience is not required. We have established procedures and are willing to train the right person. We are much more interested in finding someone who is dependable, careful, organized, learns quickly, and takes pride in getting things right.

Primary Responsibilities
Shipping & Order Fulfillment
  • Pick, pack, and ship daily direct-to-consumer orders.
  • Prepare and ship larger wholesale orders.
  • Carefully verify products, quantities, addresses, and shipping methods before orders leave the warehouse.
  • Generate shipping labels and required paperwork.
  • Schedule carrier pickups when necessary.
  • Prepare international shipments using our established procedures.
  • Track and follow up on shipments when problems occur.
  • Maintain an orderly workflow so that orders are shipped accurately and on time.
Receiving
  • Receive incoming products, components, materials, and supplies.
  • Compare incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing lists.
  • Carefully count and verify received quantities.
  • Inspect incoming products for damage or discrepancies.
  • Enter received inventory accurately into our systems.
  • Label and put away merchandise in the correct warehouse locations.
  • Report shortages, overages, damage, or other discrepancies.
Inventory Management
  • Maintain accurate inventory quantities and warehouse locations.
  • Perform regular cycle counts.
  • Assist with and conduct physical inventory counts.
  • Investigate and correct inventory discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and identify products or supplies that need to be reordered.
  • Identify damaged, missing, misplaced, or incorrectly recorded inventory.
  • Help maintain an inventory system that allows products to be quickly located and accurately counted.
Purchasing
  • Monitor inventory and supply levels.
  • Prepare and place purchase orders with established suppliers.
  • Follow up on open purchase orders and expected delivery dates.
  • Verify that received merchandise matches purchase orders.
  • Purchase routine warehouse and shipping supplies.
  • Maintain accurate purchasing and receiving records.
  • Notify management of shortages, delays, or other purchasing issues.
Inbound Freight & Supplier Shipments
  • Coordinate incoming shipments from domestic and overseas suppliers.
  • Communicate with suppliers regarding shipment readiness and delivery schedules.
  • Work with our established freight forwarders and shipping providers.
  • Track incoming shipments and coordinate their delivery to our facility.
  • Review shipping documents for accuracy.
  • Follow our existing procedures for shipments arriving from suppliers in Asia.

Training will be provided for our international shipping and import procedures.

Warehouse Organization
  • Keep the warehouse clean, orderly, and well organized.
  • Make sure every product has an appropriate and clearly identified storage location.
  • Maintain adequate shipping and packing supplies.
  • Keep shipping and receiving areas organized.
  • Look for simple ways to improve organization and efficiency.
  • Help develop and maintain procedures that reduce mistakes and make warehouse operations easier to manage.
What We Are Really Looking For

Experience is helpful, but reliability and attention to detail are more important to us than an extensive resume. If you apply for this position you will be asked a series of questions. When answering the one " Is there anything else you'd like us to know?" , please begin your answer with the word "Orange".

The right person will be someone who:

  • Is extremely dependable and shows up consistently and on time.
  • Pays close attention to details.
  • Double-checks their work rather than assuming it is correct.
  • Is naturally organized.
  • Takes responsibility for mistakes and fixes them.
  • Can follow established procedures consistently.
  • Learns new systems and processes quickly.
  • Can work independently without constant supervision.
  • Notices when something does not look right and investigates it.
  • Finishes tasks rather than leaving loose ends for someone else.
  • Is comfortable working with computers and learning new software.
  • Communicates clearly when there is a problem.
  • Takes pride in maintaining an organized workplace.
  • Can prioritize several tasks without losing track of important details.
Qualifications
  • Previous warehouse, shipping, inventory, purchasing, ecommerce fulfillment, or similar experience is helpful but not required.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Comfortable learning shipping, inventory, and order-management software.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and quantities.
  • Able to read and carefully follow written procedures.
  • Able to communicate effectively with coworkers, suppliers, and shipping companies.
  • Able to perform normal warehouse activities, including standing, walking, packing orders, moving cartons, and lifting reasonable warehouse loads (30 lbs).
  • Must be available consistently Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM until 12:00 PM.
Schedule

This is a 20-hour-per-week position , Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM.

Because shipping and receiving are daily responsibilities, consistent attendance and punctuality are essential for this position.

Why This Position May Be a Good Fit

This could be an excellent position for someone who wants a consistent part-time weekday schedule and enjoys working independently in an organized environment.

You do not need to come to us knowing every aspect of shipping, purchasing, or international logistics. We can teach our systems and procedures.

What is much harder to teach—and what matters most to us is dependability, attention to detail, organization, good judgment
