Job summary

Nanny Poppins Agency is seeking an Afterschool Family Assistant in the Chester, NJ area to support a busy family with two teenage boys. The role includes school pick-up, driving to activities, meal preparation, shopping, and light household tasks.

The ideal candidate is an experienced, organized self-starter who can manage afternoon logistics independently and maintain a tidy, healthy home environment. A long-term commitment is preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Afterschool Family Assistant or in a private household.
• Confident, safe and experienced driver who is comfortable with a lot of daily driving.
• Valid drivers license.
• Strong home cook who can prepare healthy, meat-based family meals.
• Current CPR/First Aid certification.
• Up-to-date COVID-19 and flu vaccinations.
• Highly organized, reliable, resourceful and detail-oriented.
• Self-starter who can work independently and prioritize tasks well.
• Flexible and adaptable to changing schedules and priorities.
• Professional, discreet and comfortable working in a private family home.
• Able to provide 3-5 professional references.

Responsibilities

• Pick the boys up from school and drive them to activities.
• Plan and cook healthy dinners every night that are sugar-free and free of nuts and sesame.
• Do the grocery shopping and household errands, and restock supplies.
• Do the household laundry.
• Keep the kitchen and common areas organized and tidy.
• Coordinate afternoon schedules, activities and family logistics.
• Remind the boys about schedules and commitments.
• Feed and care for the familys two guinea pigs.
• Anticipate household needs and take initiative without direction.
• Help the family with other tasks as needed.

Compensation: $30-$35 per hour
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1:00-6:00 PM or 2:00-7:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 25 hours per week

Position Overview

A busy family in Chester, NJ is looking for an experienced, proactive and highly organized Afterschool Family Assistant to support their household and their two teenage boys, ages 15 and 16. The parents have very full schedules. They need a self-starter who can run the household's afternoon logistics independently, anticipate needs and keep things moving without being told what to do next.

Afternoons begin with a 3:00 PM school pick-up, and much of the role is driving the boys to hockey, tennis and other activities. The Afterschool Family Assistant also handles grocery shopping, laundry and errands, and cooks a healthy dinner for the boys each night. The family eats a sugar-free, protein-forward diet. The boys are big meat eaters, and every meal must be free of nuts and sesame.

The family provides a vehicle for work driving, a dedicated credit card for household purchases, and food. A cleaning service comes every other week. The role has no overnight or travel duties. The family wants a long-term team member, and the position may start with an overlap period to make the transition smooth.
