Job summary

Home Work Staffing in Chester, NJ is seeking an Afterschool Family Assistant to support a busy family with two teenage boys. The role is part-time with afternoon hours, driving, meal prep, groceries, and household errands.

Responsibilities include school pickup, driving to activities, planning healthy dinners, laundry, and organizing schedules. CPR/First Aid cert and a safe driving record are required; vaccination updates preferred.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Afterschool Family Assistant or similar private household role.
• Valid driver’s license and confident, safe daily driving.
• CPR/First Aid certification and up-to-date vaccinations.
• Excellent organization and ability to work independently.
• Ability to manage afternoon schedules and meals for two teenagers.

Responsibilities

• Pick the boys up from school and drive them to hockey, tennis, appointments and other afterschool activities.
• Plan and cook healthy dinners every night that are sugar-free and free of nuts and sesame, and handle general meal prep.
• Do the grocery shopping and household errands, and restock supplies.
• Do the household laundry.
• Keep the kitchen and common areas organized and tidy.
• Coordinate afternoon schedules, activities and family logistics.
• Remind the boys about schedules, belongings and commitments so they stay organized.
• Feed and care for the family’s two guinea pigs as needed.
• Anticipate household needs and take initiative without constant direction.
• Help the family with other tasks as needed.
