Parts Specialist - Power Generation

Location: Kent, WA | Schedule: Full-Time | On-Call Rotation Required

Are you passionate about marine and power generation systems and excel in customer service? We are seeking a dedicated Parts Specialist to join our team, focusing on both Marine and Power Generation market segments. In this role, you'll leverage your mechanical aptitude and exceptional communication skills to assist customers with their parts needs, ensuring they receive accurate information and prompt service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Assistance: Greet and assist customers in person, over the phone, and via email with parts inquiries. Utilize electronic and paper catalogs to provide estimates, determine parts availability, and answer general questions.
  • Order Processing: Accurately input orders into internal and external systems, ensuring all information is verified and complete.
  • Technical Proficiency: Develop a comprehensive understanding of technical information and conduct thorough research across all product lines using online tools.
  • System Expertise: Become proficient with internal systems and major lines of business to provide efficient service.
  • Critical Thinking: Apply strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills to exceed company and customer expectations.
  • Parts Recommendations: Utilize your parts knowledge to make informed recommendations to customers based on gathered information.
  • Multitasking: Effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize demands in a fast-paced environment to ensure efficient operation of the customer service department.
  • Order Information Collection: Collect accurate and detailed customer order information, including payment methods, to support order processing.
  • Internal Support: Respond promptly to internal product price and availability requests from the service department.
  • Research and Problem-Solving: Conduct research on purchase order receipt mismatches, past due purchase orders, and tendering transactions, making appropriate suggestions and corrections.
  • Active Log Maintenance: Maintain and update the Active Log application throughout the day to track order statuses.
  • Backorder Monitoring: Monitor backorders daily, ensuring prompt receipt and distribution of orders.
  • Warehouse Support: Serve as a backup for warehouse functions, including pulling urgent stock items and assisting with cycle counts as needed.
  • Continuous Learning: Attend training sessions assigned by management and proactively seek opportunities to enhance your skill set.
  • On-Call Duties: Perform on-call duties on a rotating schedule to provide customer support outside regular business hours.
  • Additional Tasks: Undertake other duties as assigned to support the department's objectives.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years of parts experience preferred, especially in marine and power generation sectors.
Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong verbal communication skills for effective customer interactions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook, and online vendor tools.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including calculating discounts, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, which may include after-hours travel.
  • Valid driver's license required.
