Job summary

Methods Machine Tools in Acton, MA is seeking a Parts Specialist to ensure availability, accuracy, and timely delivery of machine tool parts. You will manage inventory, process orders, coordinate with vendors, and assist customers with technical part selection.

Reporting to the Parts department, you will work with Sales, Service, and Supply Chain teams to optimize stocking, update catalogs, and support continuous improvement while handling 25% travel and lifting up to 15 pounds.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required; technical degree preferred.
  • 3+ years in parts management, inventory control, or technical sales within the machine tool or industrial sector.
  • Strong understanding of machine tool components, parts schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in ERP and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills; able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Parts Management & Order Fulfillment: source, procure, quote, and invoice parts; maintain accurate inventory; coordinate with suppliers.
  • Customer Support & Technical Assistance: provide recommendations on part selection and compatibility; assist customers with inquiries.
  • Inventory & Logistics Coordination: monitor stock levels, cycle counts, and lead times; reconcile discrepancies.
  • Process Improvement & Documentation: update catalogs, pricing lists, and SOPs; support efficiency initiatives.

Position Overview

The Parts Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the availability, accuracy, and timely delivery of machine tool parts to support customers, service teams, and internal operations. This role is responsible for managing parts inventory, processing orders, coordinating with vendors, and providing technical assistance to customers regarding machine tool components. The Parts Specialist works closely with Sales, Service, and Supply Chain teams to optimize parts availability, streamline order fulfillment, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Parts Management & Order Fulfillment
    • Identify, source, and procure machine tool parts based on customer and internal needs.
    • Process orders, quotes, and invoices accurately and efficiently.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure optimal stock levels.
    • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery and resolve shortages.
    • Assist in managing returns, warranty claims, and replacement parts.
Customer Support & Technical Assistance
  • Provide technical support and recommendations to customers regarding part selection and compatibility.
  • Research and cross-reference part numbers to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Respond to inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and return complex requests as needed.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers, service teams, and OEM partners.
Inventory & Logistics Coordination
  • Monitor inventory levels, conduct cycle counts, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with supply chain and warehouse teams to optimize stocking strategies.
  • Assist in forecasting demand and managing lead times for critical components.
  • Ensure accurate data entry in ERP systems for tracking parts and order status.
Process Improvement & Documentation
  • Identify opportunities to streamline parts ordering, inventory control, and fulfillment processes.
  • Maintain and update parts catalogs, manuals, and pricing lists.
  • Assist in developing standardized procedures for efficient parts management.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma required, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in parts management, inventory control, or technical sales within the machine tool or industrial sector.
  • Strong understanding of machine tool components, parts schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency in ERP and inventory management systems.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.

Salary
