Job Description: Parts Department Manager

Manages parts operations within the dealership to provide the highest level of external and internal customer satisfaction while maximizing return on investment through parts sales, inventory control, and expense management. Optimizes parts department processes and attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.

Parts managers are responsible for selling parts to customers and meeting internal repair requirements. They set prices, determine discount levels, and plan promotions to increase sales. They also maintain regular contact with major customers to build loyalty and ensure long-term revenue.

Responsibilities
  1. Run an efficient and profitable parts department through productive staffing, customer retention, cost controls, and achievement of objectives.
  2. Promote and merchandise parts and accessories in conjunction with other store locations.
  3. Create annual Parts Department goals and budget aligned with organizational financial and operational objectives.
  4. Develop and execute the Parts Department marketing plan and monitor monthly to ensure departmental goals are met.
  5. Maintain an accurate and effective parts inventory control system, including physical inventories and proper counter procedures.
  6. Submit all warranty and return claims within the required time frame to maximize credit.
  7. Maximize use of all order discount programs to achieve stock order goals.
  8. Manage recruiting, staffing, and employee development activities for team members.
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of experience in Parts Department operations, preferably with GM Parts.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles related to Parts Department operations.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Experience with Tekion is preferred.
