Job summary

4-Horn Investments LP is seeking a Parts Manager in La Porte, TX to oversee the parts department for our equipment rental operation. You will manage inventory, purchasing, vendor relationships, and a parts staff while controlling costs and supporting safe fleet operations.

Collaborate with the Branch Manager, Service Manager, technicians, and suppliers to ensure timely parts delivery and cost-effective service.

Qualifications

• Experience in parts management, inventory control, or purchasing within equipment rental, construction equipment, automotive, trucking, or a related industry.
• Working knowledge of mechanical parts and familiarity with hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and maintenance components.
• Strong organization, communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Ability to use inventory software, electronic parts catalogs, and basic spreadsheet tools.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or relevant industry certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain appropriate stock levels for preventive maintenance and repairs on construction equipment, aerial lifts, forklifts, generators, and other rental assets.
• Use manuals, diagrams, serial numbers, and supplier catalogs to locate correct parts for a wide range of models.
• Prepare purchase orders, compare pricing, confirm availability, and coordinate deliveries to meet service priorities.
• Work with technicians, the Service Manager, and leadership to prioritize urgent orders and reduce downtime.
• Verify incoming orders, inspect for damage, resolve discrepancies, and store parts in labeled locations.
• Record receipts, transfers, returns, and parts issued to work orders in the inventory system.
• Monitor usage, conduct cycle counts, investigate discrepancies, and reduce slow-moving stock.
• Resolve order issues, coordinate warranty claims and core returns, maintain supplier relationships.
• Coordinate parts transfers between locations and update on order status and timelines.
• Keep parts room clean, secure, and organized; handle fluids, batteries, and regulated materials per procedures.
• Track inventory accuracy, availability, purchasing costs, and turnaround times to identify improvements.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Parts Manager oversees the parts department for an equipment rental operation. This position ensures the service team has the parts and supplies needed to maintain, repair, and return rental equipment to service quickly. The Parts Manager manages inventory, purchasing, vendor relationships, and parts staff while controlling costs and supporting safe, reliable fleet operations. Work closely with the Branch Manager, Service Manager, technicians, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely and cost-effective parts management.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Maintain appropriate stock levels for preventive maintenance and repairs on construction equipment, aerial lifts, forklifts, generators, and other rental assets.
• Use equipment manuals, diagrams, serial numbers, and supplier catalogs to locate the correct parts for a wide range of manufacturers and models.
