Job summary

The Texas Department of Public Safety is seeking a Parts Clerk to perform journey-level clerical, inventory, and purchasing tasks in a vehicle maintenance and parts setting.

Responsibilities include stocking, issuing materials, handling customer inquiries, data entry, and processing purchase orders. The role requires a high school diploma and at least one year of related experience, with a valid driver license if driving is involved.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduation from high school or the equivalent.
• Experience: A minimum of one year in receiving, storing, and distributing durable goods in a warehousing or similar facility.
• Licensure: If driving is required, possess a valid driver license.
• Regulatory: Knowledge of state agency purchasing processes and related regulations.
• Equipment: Proficient with forklift, pallet jack, two‑wheel dollies, and carts.
• Interpersonal: Ability to communicate professionally with internal/external customers.
• Safety/Confidentiality: Uphold safety standards and protect sensitive info.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, stock, and issue materials and inventory.
• Load and unload equipment and supplies.
• Assist customers at front counter, mail, and phone; verify transfers.
• Maintain files and enter data into inventory systems.
• Prepare, review, and track purchase orders and requisitions.
• Monitor and order bulk fuel.
• Create and reconcile reports and spreadsheets.
• Coordinate disposal of surplus property with stakeholders.
• Reconcile records to identify materials on hand.
• Prepare emergency and spot purchase orders; expedite deliveries.
• Assist with perpetual inventory control for Fleet items.
• Assist with training others.
• Coordinate repair documentation for cameras and equipment.
• Submit Release Requisitions against blanket contracts.
