Job summary

Courtesy Chevrolet San Diego is seeking a knowledgeable Parts Counterperson to assist technicians, service advisors, wholesale and retail customers with automotive parts needs. You will identify, source, sell, and distribute parts while delivering exceptional service and supporting dealership operations.

The role requires accurate parts identification, sourcing, and inventory control in a fast-paced dealership environment.

Qualifications

Position Summary

Courtesy Chevrolet San Diego is seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Parts Counterperson to assist technicians, service advisors, wholesale customers, and retail customers with automotive parts needs. This position is responsible for accurately identifying, sourcing, selling, and distributing parts while providing exceptional customer service and supporting dealership operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist retail, wholesale, and internal customers with parts inquiries and purchases.
• Accurately identify and locate automotive parts using manufacturer catalogs and dealership software.
• Process parts orders, invoices, credits, and returns.
• Provide parts support to service technicians and advisors to ensure efficient repair operations.
• Maintain proper inventory control and stocking procedures.
• Receive, inspect, and organize incoming parts shipments.
• Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits.
• Monitor backordered parts and communicate status updates to customers and dealership personnel.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional parts department.
• Promote accessories and additional parts sales opportunities when appropriate.
• Ensure accurate pricing and documentation of all transactions.
• Follow dealership policies, manufacturer requirements, and safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Previous automotive parts experience required; dealership experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automotive parts, accessories, and inventory processes.
• Experience with CDK or other dealership management systems preferred.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer proficiency required.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to retrieve parts from shelves, bins, and storage areas.
• Ability to work in a warehouse and dealership environment with varying temperatures.
