Job summary

Ryan Auto Mall is seeking a full-time Parts Counter Person at our Buffalo, MN location. The role requires interacting with customers and technicians to identify and supply the correct automotive parts with accuracy and speed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; automotive/parts education is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers and technicians in identifying and selecting correct parts.
• Check stock levels, use inventory management systems, and order parts as needed.
• Provide exceptional service by answering questions and solving parts-related issues.
• Maintain organized records of transactions and communications for parts inventory.
• Participate in stocktaking and assist with ordering to maintain optimal stock levels.
• Process returns and exchanges per company policies.
• Stay informed on new parts and industry updates that affect parts management.
• Coordinate with sales and service to optimize parts availability.
• Keep parts counter and storage area clean, organized, and compliant with safety regs.
• Attend regular training sessions to improve product knowledge.

About the Position

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Parts Counter Person at our Ryan Chevrolet-Cadillac location in Buffalo. This position is a fantastic opportunity for individuals passionate about automotive parts and committed to delivering exceptional customer service. The position is Full-Time and requires the candidate to work on-site, as it is not a remote job. Serving as an integral component of our parts department, the Parts Counter Person will interact directly with customers and technicians, ensuring they receive the precise parts they need with efficiency and accuracy.

The ideal candidate will be dependable, motivated, detail-oriented, and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist customers and technicians in identifying and selecting the correct parts for various vehicles, equipment, or machinery
• Utilize inventory management systems to check stock levels, order parts as necessary, and ensure timely fulfillment of all parts requests
• Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, offering advice, and solving parts-related issues promptly
• Maintain an organized record of all transactions and communications to ensure accuracy and accountability in parts inventory
• Participate in stocktaking activities, assess inventory needs, and assist with ordering to maintain optimal stock levels
• Process returns and exchanges in accordance with company policies, ensuring customer satisfaction and operational efficiency
• Stay informed of new parts and products, as well as updates in automotive industry standards that may affect parts management
• Coordinate with the sales and service departments to optimize parts availability and minimize disruptions to business operations
• Ensure the parts counter area and storage are clean, organized and compliant with safety regulations at all times
• Attend and participate in regular training sessions and meetings to improve professional skills and product knowledge

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in automotive or parts management is a plus
• Proven experience working as a Parts Counter Person or in a similar role within automotive or related industries
• General understanding of automotive parts and systems, with an ability to identify, locate, and explain their functions and compatibility
• Ability to use inventory management software and other computer systems necessary for parts ordering and record keeping
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with a capability to engage positively with customers and colleagues
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking skills, capable of managing multiple client requests simultaneously
• Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for extended periods
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and independently when required
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and willingness to attend training to enhance product knowledge and customer service skills
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends, depending on departmental needs
