Job summary

Transdev seeks a Maintenance Parts Clerk to manage purchasing, receipt, storage, and distribution of vehicle parts and maintenance supplies. You will maintain accurate inventory records, support cost control, and ensure timely access to parts for maintenance teams.

This role requires a high school diploma or GED and 2–3 years of related inventory/warehouse experience. Proficiency with CMMS, Excel, and Outlook is preferred, with strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2-3 years inventory, warehouse, automotive, diesel, or transit maintenance parts experience preferred.
• Knowledge of diesel vehicle, bus, or heavy equipment parts preferred.
• Experience using CMMS.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming parts, supplies, and materials against purchase orders and packing slips.
• Maintain organized inventory of vehicle parts, tools, fluids, and maintenance supplies.
• Issue parts and supplies to technicians and accurately document inventory transactions.
• Monitor inventory levels and reorder stock as necessary to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Research and source parts from approved vendors and suppliers.
• Process purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and warranty claims.
• Maintain computerized inventory management and maintenance software systems.
• Track and monitor usage trends to identify opportunities for inventory optimization and cost savings.
• Coordinate with vendors regarding deliveries, shortages, returns, and defective parts.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of hazardous materials in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

Job description

The Maintenance Parts Clerk is responsible for the procurement, receipt, storage, inventory control, and distribution of parts, supplies, and materials required to support the maintenance and repair of transit vehicles and equipment. This position ensures that maintenance operations have timely access to necessary parts while maintaining accurate inventory records and controlling costs. We are seeking customer service-oriented professionals who are dedicated to safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support emergency parts procurement to minimize vehicle downtime.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of inventory, warehouse, automotive, diesel, or transit maintenance parts experience preferred.
• Knowledge of diesel vehicle, bus, or heavy equipment parts and components preferred.
• Experience using inventory management and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to accurately maintain records and perform data entry.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Understanding of inventory control and purchasing practices.
• Knowledge of transit bus systems, engines, and vehicle components preferred.
• Ability to interpret parts catalogs, technical manuals, and schematics.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced maintenance environment.
• Customer service mindset with the ability to support maintenance personnel effectively.
• Ability to analyze inventory usage and recommend stocking levels.
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical if applicable. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed.
• The employee is generally subjected to long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen.
• Work environment will be a combination of both indoors and outdoors.
• Must use close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
