Job Summary
As a Tax Senior, Partnerships, you will use research skills and your educational background to advise clients on the tax implications of their business objectives and partnership specific items including section 704(b) taxable income allocations, capital account maintenance, liability analysis, section 734(b) and 743(b) adjustments, and Tax Receivable Agreement calculations. You will prepare partnership specific computations, support the Partnerships team, participate in business development and marketing activities, lead process improvement initiatives, maintain client relationships, and serve as a guide for staff.
Job Duties
Tax Specialization
- Develop an in-depth understanding of partnership taxation technical and practical issues and opportunities.
- Organize and conduct external CPE training sessions in your area of specialization at least once per year.
- Train and mentor interns and associates, including use of current software tools.
Research
- Identify when research is needed and work with leadership to frame issues clearly.
- Develop research methodology for efficient investigation of complex issues.
- Train interns and associates on research skills and proper framing of tax issues.
- Engage firm specialists when appropriate.
Tax Consulting
- Recommend and implement methods to maximize client benefits and reduce current and future taxes.
- Collaborate with leadership to recommend solutions while managing risk.
- Assist with implementation of firm strategies and manage client expectations.
- Perform other duties as required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Schedule and manage workload of interns and associates.
- Supervise day‑to‑day workload of interns on various projects.
- Review work prepared by interns and associates and provide comments.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics preferred.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Two or more years of relevant tax experience or public accounting, private industry accounting or consulting experience.
- Specialized partnership experience preferred.
- Private equity experience at fund and portfolio company levels preferred.
- CPA, Attorney or IRS Enrolled Agent (or equivalent) preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; experience with tax research databases and compliance software preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; strong analytical, research and critical‑thinking skills.
- Effective delegation, organizational and team‑collaboration skills.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships and manage multiple projects in a deadline‑driven environment.
- Professional presence and willingness to serve as primary contact on engagements.
Salary Range
National: $73,500 - $131,250
Maryland: $73,500 - $131,250
NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $73,500 - $131,250
Washington DC: $73,500 - $131,250
