Job summary

BDO USA is seeking an Experienced Manager in the Partnerships group in Illinois to advise clients on tax implications of business objectives and partnership-specific items. The role leads on 704(b) allocations, 734(b) and 743(b) adjustments, TRA calculations, and maintains client relationships while guiding team members.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years of tax experience with specialized partnership background, strong communication, and supervisory skills; CPA/EA/attorney preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required; focus in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
• Master’s Degree in Accountancy or Taxation preferred.
• Six (6) or more years of prior relevant tax experience and/or public accounting, private industry accounting, or consulting/professional services experience.
• Specialized partnership experience required.
• CPA certification, Attorney (admitted to practice in a U.S. jurisdiction), or IRS Enrolled Agent (EA) preferred.
• Experience with tax research databases and tax compliance process software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop an in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding partnership taxation.
• Identify when research is needed; frame issues clearly, report analysis concisely, and provide efficient research methodology.
• Train associates and senior associates on research skills and help appropriately frame tax issues for analysis.
• Assist with developing, recommending, and implementing methods to maximize client benefits and decrease client taxes while managing risk.
• Implement applicable firm strategies and manage client expectations.
• Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects, review their work and provide comments.
• Train associates and senior associates on current software tools, provide performance feedback, and act as a career advisor.
• Schedule and manage workload of associates and senior associates, and mentor associates, senior associates, and managers.
