Job Description/Overview:

The associate Partner veterinarian delivers medical, surgical and dental care to patients, and supervises medical team members. They also may perform management and leadership activities including but not limited to review of the practice key performance indicators, new business development, staff continuing education, promoting a positive work environment, and marketing activities in partnership with the partner and pod doctors. This position is responsible for maintaining positive relationships with the pod leader and other partner doctors as well as team togo for hospital support.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Live and exemplify the PetVet365 Purpose, Mission and Vision within self and team.
  2. Provides compassionate care to patients and clients with strong FearFree principles.
  3. Performs medical, surgical and dental procedures.
  4. Interprets the results of laboratory procedures and determines the appropriate protocol based on the results; reads radiographs and interprets EKGs; prescribes medications.
  5. Promptly and accurately updates client records.
  6. Plans and carries out a significant program of personal medical continuing education.
  7. Communicates effectively with clients and presents them with treatment alternatives.
  8. Promotes the concept of the client-centered environment.
  9. Helps to develop new programs and processes that meet clients’ changing needs.
  10. Supervises veterinary technicians; works with them to assess their current skill level and to plan and implement their continuing education and growth.
  11. Delivers in-house medical training to the team.
  12. Works toward and attains practice productivity standards.
  13. With the owners, periodically reviews the key performance indicators and plans for changes as indicated.
  14. Works with the owners on plans for developing and growing the business.
  15. Works with the practice owner to plan for facility maintenance.
  16. Assists the marketing effort by participating in community activities that focus on the veterinary profession and on social media.
  17. Communicates objectives, motivates staff, builds, and maintains morale; maintains core values and standards.
  18. Promotes cooperative working environment among team members; understands the value of teamwork; shows enthusiasm and willingness to perform as necessary to help the practice function as a unit. Understands and carries out oral and written directions.
  19. Maintains positive, cooperative relationships with other employees. Promotes continuous quality improvement.
  20. Develop and mentor associate doctors’ skills including interpersonal and leadership skills.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned.
  22. Performs physical examinations, diagnoses physical condition and presents diagnostic and treatment alternatives to the client.
  23. Works with owners to set practice medical standards and procedures; performs all duties in accordance with them.
Qualifications

Education & Professional Qualifications:

  1. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree Required in current state.
  2. Experience as a D.V.M. in a practice is desirable, but not required.
  3. Fear Free Certified required.
  4. Ability to lift 40+ pounds.
  5. Ability to stand for 8+ hours.

Knowledge and Experience:

  1. Basic computer skills, type 45 words per minute.
  2. Communication skills.
  3. Working knowledge or interest in the business aspect of veterinary practice.
  4. May be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, and animal feces.
