Job summary

Bilt is hiring a Forward-Deployed Engineer in New York City to partner with property managers, loyalty programs, payment processors, and subscription platforms. You will design, build, and ship integrations that power the Bilt ecosystem by writing production Java code and debugging complex API issues in real time.

You will work at the intersection of code and communication, leveraging AI tools to prototype quickly, create reference implementations, and guide external partners through technical

Qualifications

• 4–5+ years as software/forward‑deployed engineer or similar.
• Strong Java, Spring Boot, REST, and API integration experience.
• Experience with cloud platforms, CI/CD, containers, and IaC.
• Excellent written and verbal communication for external partners.

Responsibilities

• Embed with partner engineering teams to design and implement API integrations.
• Write production Java code, SDKs, and integration samples.
• Own the full integration lifecycle from discovery to go‑live.
• Troubleshoot cross‑system issues in real time with partner engineers.
• Turn business requirements into clear API contracts and specs.
• Create developer resources: docs, Postman collections, samples.
• Leverage AI tools to accelerate prototyping and documentation.
• Advocate for API improvements and align with product roadmap.
• Collaborate with product, eng, sales, and partnerships for launches.
