WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Consulting Partner at TNTP, you will sell and manage a portfolio of client engagements or contracts within our Consulting team and serve as a face of the organization to district partners, external stakeholders, and current and prospective clients across the Northeast, including Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, DC.

This role is designed to strengthen and grow TNTP’s consulting presence in the Northeast by cultivating relationships, identifying and converting new opportunities, managing high-quality regional engagements, and advancing innovative solutions to clients’ biggest challenges. Although you may manage work across TNTP’s broader K-12 portfolio, this role is especially focused on regional business development, portfolio leadership, and sustained impact across Northeast systems and communities.

  • Building and executing a state–or multi–state growth strategy within the Northeast aligned to TNTP’s strategic priorities, demand across those markets, and emerging opportunities in the field.
  • Building a strong network of Northeast external stakeholders, district and system leaders, funders, and cross-sector partners to promote TNTP’s services, strengthen our brand, and support business development.
  • Building an understanding of the services TNTP offers aligned to our strategic plan in order to talk to current and prospective clients and funders about our work.
  • Listening and being responsive to the needs of current and prospective clients and funders in order to design services that best meet the needs of our learners and clients.
  • Motivating and influencing in the sales process aligned to best practices in the field to maximize impact.
  • Designing strong budgets and staffing plans that allow us to deliver upon our work in a way that maximizes impact within the given timeframe and budget constraints.
  • Setting and executing a vision and strategy for how TNTP will meet and exceed its impact goals across a portfolio of Northeast contracts, partnerships, and growth priorities.
  • Effectively managing teams and fostering strong team culture through clear expectations, coaching, support, and accountability to develop talent and achieve ambitious goals.
  • Building and managing high‑level client relationships to ensure client investment and satisfaction in our ongoing partnerships—authentically collaborating with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Overseeing finances at the team/project level including establishing the budget, forecasting, monitoring, and revenue management.
  • Monitoring impact with teams through collecting appropriate data, analyzing that data, and reflecting on progress towards impact on a regular basis.
  • Creating the conditions for and modeling innovation, creativity, and experimentation across teams.
  • Providing regular updates to the Managing Partner and/or VP on team/project performance aligned to regional/divisional goals.
  • Collaborating as part of a regional/divisional management team collectively sharing responsibilities for staff experience, achieving goals, and the fiscal health of the region/division.
  • Building investment among teams and people including acting as a key leader in change management efforts internally.
  • Ensuring and modeling compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, organizational policies, and expectations.

The expected travel for this role is up to and including 40%, which is in alignment with other roles in the Consulting Division.

Travel is expected to include in-person engagement with clients, partners, and stakeholders across the Northeast, including Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Washington, DC.

In addition, given our clients are all over the country, some in cities and some in rural locations, all candidates must have a valid Driver’s License (reasonable accommodations are available for qualified individuals with disabilities).

WHAT YOU HAVE
  • Senior‑level experience working in or with leadership at school districts, CMOs, state education agencies, or education‑focused organizations to lead complex organizational change efforts and achieve ambitious goals.
  • Experience cultivating, managing, and expanding external partnerships, including business development, client relationship management, proposal development, renewal strategy, and/or regional growth work.
  • Ability to develop a clear vision and purposeful strategy across a portfolio of contracts, manage complex implementation, and support teams to deliver high‑quality, high‑impact work.
  • Deep understanding of the education landscape and business development opportunities for supporting students, districts, and communities; experience or networks in the Northeast education landscape preferred.
  • Excellent project management skills and an ability to work efficiently and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong experience leading academic and instructional improvement efforts in K–12 systems; leadership in literacy/ELA and/or mathematics initiatives preferred.

Preferred: Experience designing and advancing systems of support, including MTSS frameworks, special education practices, and evidence‑based academic interventions to meet the needs of a wide range of learners.

Competencies
  • Build relationships. You identify, cultivate, and convert opportunities by building strong relationships with district leaders, system leaders, funders, community partners, and other stakeholders, with particular attention to Northeast relationships and market needs.
  • You can position and lead engagements across TNTP’s broader portfolio of services and contribute to proposal development, scope design, pricing, and positioning that lead to sustainable, high‑impact work.
  • Leverage senior leadership experience in K‑12 systems and consulting. You bring senior‑level experience leading complex, system‑wide change in school districts, CMOs, state education agencies, or education‑focused organizations.
  • You set clear vision and strategy across multiple bodies of work, using your expertise to respond to client needs, deepen partnerships, and advance long‑term impact.
  • Translate strategy into effective partnerships. You lead the successful delivery of a portfolio of client engagements across TNTP’s service lines through strong planning, execution, monitoring, and course correction to meet contract goals.
  • You provide leadership, strategic direction, decision‑making, and client and team management across a portfolio of external partners, utilizing long‑term planning and quality controls to ensure work is high‑quality, stable, and sustainable.
  • Manage teams and contracts for performance and impact. You hire, develop, and manage high‑performing teams while overseeing budgets, staffing plans, timelines, and deliverables.
  • You ensure work is delivered on time, within scope, and at a level of quality that supports renewal and expansion.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and executive presence. You communicate clearly with clients, partners, and internal leaders, navigate ambiguity, and make decisions that balance client satisfaction, organizational priorities, and financial sustainability.
