Job summary

Brio Living Services is seeking a Participant Care Assistant in Jackson, MI. The role involves daily living support, travel between Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale counties, and a 40-hour workweek with Monday–Friday schedule.

You will complete PCA training, work in the day center and in participant homes, and join a compassionate team delivering high-quality care with respect and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Must be willing to complete our PCA training program.
  • Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license
  • CPR Certified or willing to obtain.
  • Prior experience with frail or elderly individuals, aiding with daily living activities, and offering compassionate care, preferred.
  • The ability to read, write, understand, and follow directions.
  • A heart for helping others and the physical ability to lift, stand, bend, transfer, stretch, walk, push, and pull as needed.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds frequently is required
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Hands-On Care – Assist with personal care like bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
  • Support Mealtime– Help participants enjoy their meals and stay hydrated for good health.
  • Maintain Comfort and Care – Provide and maintain physical and emotional comfort for participants in the day center and their homes.
  • Support in their Home and in the Community - Support housekeeping tasks such as laundry, sweeping, and grocery shopping. Meet participants at appointments as needed.
  • Provide Responsive Support – Respond with kindness and compassion.
  • Monitor with Watchful Eyes – Report any changes in conditions to the leadership ASAP and provide accurate documentation.
  • Demonstrate Respect & Professionalism – Maintain confidentiality while delivering top-notch care.

Compensation: $16.98 - $17.51 / hour

Description

Schedule: Full Time | 40 hours per week | Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm | every 4th weekendDepartment: Thome PACE | Jackson, MI

Travel Requirements: This role involves regular travel between Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale counties providing Home Based Care.

We provide a comprehensive PCA training class to help you build the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in this rewarding field. Our next PCA class will be held on October 12th and 13th. You must attend this class.

Personal Care Assistant (PCA) role is an excellent entry-level opportunity to begin a career in healthcare. In this position, you will be working both in our day center and traveling to participant homes. PCAs assist participants with daily living activities and healthcare needs, gaining hands-on experience across a variety of care settings.

Ideal candidates will have strong communication skills, show empathy and compassion, and work well with healthcare teams while following care plans.

On-Call Responsibilities: Participate in after-hour on-call rotations, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
