Job summary

Oregon State University in Corvallis seeks 30 part-time Swim Instructors for the KidSpirit Youth Organization. You will deliver high-quality instruction to youth, plan lessons, ensure safety, and collaborate with families and staff.

WSI certification preferred or ability to train, and you will undergo background checks as part of OSU policies. Flexible hours up to 24 per week support student schedules while contributing to youth development.

Qualifications

• Current, valid First Aid certification by the start of programming.
• Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN) certification by start of programming.
• Introduction to Child Care Health & Safety certification by start of programming.
• Fundamentals of Learning.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain an instructional environment that prioritizes skill mastery, emotional safety, and positive youth development.
• Plan, prepare, and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities that support participant growth and engagement.
• Use observation, critical thinking, and feedback strategies to evaluate participants and support staff performance.
• Monitor participant safety always and administer first aid when necessary.
• Initiate emergency action procedures appropriately and calmly.
• Attend required orientation sessions, program meetings, and in-service training.
• Check out, request, and properly use equipment and supplies for activities.
