Job summary

Bay State Community Services is seeking a Youth Support Worker to engage with youth in afterschool programs, providing mentorship, emotional support, and facilitation of group activities focused on mental health and resilience.

The role requires passion for youth development, strong communication skills, and familiarity with trauma-informed care. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Passion for working with youth and promoting mental health awareness.
  • Bachelor's degree or current pursuit in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in youth programs, mentoring, counseling, or mental health services is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate youth.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, positive youth development, and cultural competency.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Build meaningful relationships with youth participants, providing guidance, mentorship, and emotional support.
  • Facilitate engaging group activities focused on mental health, self-expression, and personal development.
  • Create a safe and inclusive environment where youth feel heard, valued, and supported.
  • Assist in developing and implementing workshops on resilience, coping strategies, and self-care.
  • Monitor and respond to the emotional and behavioral needs of youth with sensitivity and professionalism.
  • Collaborate with program staff, mental health professionals, and community partners to enhance offerings.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of participant engagement, progress, and concerns.
  • Uphold confidentiality and ethical guidelines while ensuring youth safety.

(Community, Resilience, Empowerment, Well-being) is a dynamic afterschool program dedicated to supporting youth mental health by providing a safe, inclusive, and empowering space for young individuals to thrive. Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Passion for working with youth and promoting mental health awareness.
  • Bachelor's degree (or working toward) in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Youth Development, or a related field (preferred but not required).
  • Previous experience in youth programs, mentoring, counseling, or mental health services is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and motivate youth.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, positive youth development, and cultural competency.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
