Job summary

New York Edge seeks a Sports Activity Specialist for after-school programs in the Bronx. You will lead age-appropriate sports activities, follow provided curricula, and promote safe, engaging physical activity for students in a part-time weekly schedule.

Responsibilities include planning lessons, coordinating with program staff, and encouraging participation in school-based sports events. Must be reliable, communicative, and dedicated to youth development.

Qualifications

• Must be knowledgeable and skilled in sports and have prior experience teaching youth.
• Prior experience teaching youth preferred.
• Must be able to follow a curriculum.
• Must be responsible, reliable, and punctual.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Responsibilities

• Motivate students to be active daily.
• Ensure daily activity lesson plans are structured and goal-oriented.
• Maintain communication with the Program Director about calendars and events.
• Encourage participation in organization-wide sports activities.
• Establish and enforce safety rules for behavior and procedures.
• Instruct participants on activity principles, techniques, and safety.
