The Newburgh Free Library is seeking a Part Time Library Assistant in Youth Services to support and engage youth from birth to 17. This role reports to a Librarian I and requires evening/night shifts and one Saturday per month at our Newburgh locations.

You will plan crafts, story times, and book clubs, assist caregivers and teachers, and maintain information resources using Canva and other tools. A positive, collaborative spirit and knowledge of children's programming are essential.

Formación

• Familiarity with library procedures.
• Proficient with current technology and social media.
• Knowledge of trends in children’s programming and literacy.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Responsabilidades

• Plan and conduct programs for youth including crafts, story times, and book clubs.
• Facilitate programs with collaborators.
• Maintain records and statistics for youth services.
• Develop informational materials (flyers, brochures, calendars) using Canva.
• Represent the library at events in schools and the community.
• Assist with materials evaluation and improvement.
• Provide reference and readers’ advisory at service desks.
• Provide general clerical support for department staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
