Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Peninsula (BGCP) seeks an Instructional Support Staff member to help create safe and engaging learning environments for TK-8 students across multiple sites in San Mateo County. You will assist with instruction, mentoring, and program coordination in a collaborative team setting.

The role offers professional development opportunities and requires 12-19 hours per week, typically 3-4 days, with hours largely after school.

Qualifications

• Commitment to BGCP’s mission and vision and working with TK-8 youth.
• Experience building relationships with diverse youth communities and constituents.
• Ability to motivate through positive reinforcement.
• Strong communication skills.
• Flexible navigating a fast-paced environment.
• Spanish fluency is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage a classroom of approximately 10-20 students per 1 staff as co-lead or primary lead.
• Provide academic mentoring and homework assistance.
• Lead students through academic activities.
• Adapt lesson plans for enrichment classes and clubs (art, cooking, STEM, fitness, etc.).
• Conduct life skills and team-building activities.
• Communicate with parents/guardians, school staff, and BGCP leadership.
• Engage in weekly check-ins and participate in staff meetings.
• Maintain a positive, safe, productive work environment.
• Participate in supporting special events and field trips.
• Attend trainings and professional development opportunities.
• Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
