Description

We are currently seeking Wound Care Nurse Practitioners to provide wound services to patients living in long-term care facilities.

WOUND NP ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide wound care services for long-term care patients residing in skilled nursing facilities.
2. Prescribe appropriate medications, including controlled substances in accordance with KS Law.
3. Order, review, and/or follow-up with treatments and diagnostic testing.
4. Communicate with the nursing home staff on a regular and as needed basis to discuss changes in condition and/or the care plan.
5. Collaborate with the primary care physician.

Wound Np Qualifications And Education Requirements

• Current, unrestricted NP license in the state of Kansas.
• Board Certification.
• DEA licensure (Optional)
• Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.
• Experience with wound care, including chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds.
• Comfort with diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds or Kennedy Ulcers.
• Ability to stage pressure injuries according to NPIAP guidelines.
• Familiarity with wound care best practices and advanced wound care products such as collagens, alginates, foams, silvers, etc.
• Experience with wound vacs and other DME, including pressure relieving/reducing devices.
• Wound certification or willingness to obtain certification is preferred.
• Experience working in a long-term care setting.
• Ability to work with an EMR system.
• Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary care team.
