Job summary

CareMed is seeking a Wound Nurse Practitioner to provide wound care services for residents in long-term care facilities in Washington. The role includes prescribing medications per WA law, ordering and reviewing treatments, and coordinating with the primary physician and nursing staff to optimize care plans.

This part-time NP position requires WA licensure, board certification, and wound-care experience. Experience with EMR systems and a focus on geriatric wound management are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted NP license in WA.
• Board Certification.
• DEA licensure (Optional).
• Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.
• Clinical background of wound care, including chronic or infected wounds.
• Comfort diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed wounds or Kennedy Ulcers.
• Ability to stage pressure injuries per NPIAP.

Responsibilities

• Provide wound care services for long-term care patients in skilled nursing facilities.
• Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, under Washington law.
• Order, review, and follow up with treatments and diagnostics.
• Communicate with nursing home staff regularly about patient condition changes.
• Coordinate with the care plan and collaborate with the primary care physician.
• Work within an interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care.

We are currently seeking Wound Care Nurse Practitioners to provide wound services to patients living in long-term care facilities.

WOUND NP ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide wound care services for long-term care patients residing in skilled nursing facilities.
• Prescribe appropriate medications, including controlled substances in accordance with Washington Law.
• Order, review, and/or follow-up with treatments and diagnostic testing.
• Communicate with the nursing home staff on a regular and as needed to discuss changes in condition.
• and/or the care plan.
• Collaborate with the primary care physician.

WOUND NP QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Current, unrestricted NP license in the state of WA.
• Board Certification.
• DEA licensure (Optional)
• Clinical background in adult, family, or geriatric specialties.
• Clinical background of wound care; including but not limited to chronic, debilitating, stalled, or infected wounds
• Must be comfortable with diagnosing and treating diabetic, arterial, venous, and mixed etiology wounds or Kennedy Ulcers.
• Must be comfortable staging pressure injuries according to the NPIAP
• Must be familiar with wound care best practice and advanced wound care products; collagens, alginates, foams, silvers, etc.
• Must have experience with wound vacs and other DME, such as pressure relieving/ reducing devices
• Strong preference to having wound certification or be open to getting certified
• Experience working in a long-term care setting.
• Ability to work with an EMR.
• Ability to work within an interdisciplinary care team to coordinate patient care.
