Job summary

Marketplace Chaplains is seeking part-time chaplains to provide emotional and spiritual care to employees and their families within a 30-mile radius of San Jose. The role involves visiting worksites regularly, offering confidential pastoral support, and coordinating resources for various life events.

The chaplain will work in collaboration with client companies and the Marketplace Chaplains team, conducting follow-up support and representing ministry services when appropriate.

Qualifications

• Ability to work in an interfaith setting and accept diverse lifestyles, cultures, beliefs, and values.
• Skills to effectively listen and interact with clients, employees, and families; ability to deliver community presentations.
• Spiritual maturity and commitment to Christian values; adheres to ministry values and biblically-based beliefs.
• Excellent oral and written communication; maintain composure in stressful situations.
• Must have an active state driver’s license and state minimum auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a messenger and conveyor of faith, mission, and purpose.
• Interacts with companies, employees, and the community with professional character.
• Make brief weekly visits to worksites to build trust and friendships.
• Provide confidential pastoral discussions for employees and immediate family members.
• Assist in planning, conducting, or attending funerals and providing follow-up support.
• Provide resources and literature to employees for life issues; coordinate referrals as needed.
• Represent the company’s ministry services to clients and participate in new employee orientation.
