Job summary

Alvin College seeks part-time instructors for its Welding program within the CEWD department. The pool supports available assignments throughout the academic year, with interviews following a review of applications.

Instructors teach a variety of Welding courses, follow current outlines, and assess student outcomes. Positions may require days, evenings, or weekends and up to 19 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Requires Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Metals Science (Metallurgy, Composite Science, etc.) or Welding Technology.
• Minimum of three (3) years non-teaching work experience in the field.
• Must be able to work days, evenings and/or weekends as program needs.

Responsibilities

• Instructs and supervises a diverse population of students in the classroom at various times and locations.
• Maintains safety procedures in the welding shop and classroom.
• Develops course syllabi and assessments; evaluates student competencies.
• Communicates with students about progress and supports student retention.
