Job description

Part Time - Website Content Specialist (Wordpress & Design) (Contractor)

Remote

FreeWill is an award-winning, social-good startup that has partnered with 2,200+ nonprofits who support our mission while raising more than $11.9B in bequests to charities since we were founded in 2017. We’ve been featured in the New York Times, Forbes, Oprah’s magazine, and our co-CEOs have even been named to Town & Country’s “Top 50 Philanthropists” list.

All of this is because we’ve figured out how to make some powerful (but complicated!) ways to donate much easier and more accessible. Our products make things easier for the donors who want to change the world and for nonprofits doing heroic work around the planet.

Part-time • 3-6 Month Contract • Work from Anywhere in the US (except AL, CO, or LA)
About the Role

We’re looking for a Website Content Specialist to collaborate part time with our team! They will help keep our WordPress websites fresh, engaging, and up to date. In this role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and updating web content across several sites, using established templates and brand guidelines to ensure everything we publish is clear, consistent, and on-brand.

You’ll work closely with our content, design, and digital teams to bring updates to life. Ideally you will have extensive experience with WordPress including building and updating WordPress sites. We will need someone who has extensive experience in Photoshop to apply basic design edits and keep visual consistency. This role will be focused on matching our existing websites with minimal creative design work.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a mix of structured tasks and creative problem-solving. If you're detail-oriented, a self-starter, and have a keen eye for design and user interface details, we would love to hear from you!

Time commitment is approximately 20-30 hours per week. This role will be working on projects so collaboration during work hours on weekdays may be required.

This role will have an initial contract length of 3 months, but may be extended for as long as 6 months with potential to be extended past that.

FreeWill has set compensation and a non-negotiation policy for fairness reasons (we don't think that an individual's pay should be determined by how comfortable they are negotiating). As a result, we like to be transparent and up front about the compensation.Compensation for this role will be $35 per hour. This role is a contract position and is not eligible for benefits.

If you are interested in the role, please apply via the Careers page on our website. Please do not contact Recruiters/employees by email or phone.

We will be evaluating candidates based on their resume and their portfolio. In the application questions, please provide a link to a portfolio of your relevant works (Website Designs, Graphic Designs, etc.)

Responsibilities
  • Apply basic design edits using Photoshop
  • Ensure formatting, layout, and visual consistency
Required Skills and Experience
  • Experience using WordPress and editing site content
  • Proficiency in Photoshop (required)
  • Strong visual and formatting attention to detail

FreeWill is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity. We are committed to finding talent that is not determined on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, disability status, or any other characteristic protected by law.

We are a remote-first company that’s able to hire in 47 states and D.C. Unfortunately, we are unable to hire in Colorado, Alabama, or Louisiana at this time. We also can’t sponsor working visas, so all applicants will need to have work authorization in the US.

Don’t check off every box in the requirements listed above? Please apply anyway! Studies have shown that marginalized communities - such as women, LGBTQ+ and people of color - are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. FreeWill is dedicated to building an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible workplace that fosters a sense of belonging – so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly with every qualification in the job description, we encourage you to still consider submitting an application. You may be just the right candidate for this role or another one of our openings!

AI Policy

We are excited to engage with candidates who can demonstrate their experience and skills through their own words and work, not through AI-generated content. We want to understand your genuine interest in the company and your unique perspectives, not simply AI-driven responses. We ask that you refrain from use of AI-generated content during the hiring process which includes phone screens, video interviews, tech screens, or other assessment stages except as otherwise indicated to you by the Recruiter.

For example: Using ChatGPT to generate scripted answers to application questions or during phone screens and video interviews is strongly discouraged and will result in not moving forward in the hiring process. However, the use of an AI design tool to enhance the design of a presentation deck is permitted.

The Recruiter will be able to provide additional guidance during the hiring process if needed. If hired at FreeWill, we do encourage the use of AI in your role to build upon or enhance your skill set.

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp .
