Job summary

Vortex Optics in Barneveld, WI is hiring a temporary warehouse associate for the Small Parcel team. You’ll learn multiple roles within the warehouse, with Wednesday–Friday shifts and some flex time. Primary duties include order picking, conveyor transfer, and assisting the packing and freight teams.

You’ll need teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs; proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP is preferred. This seasonal position requires US work authorization.

Responsibilities

• Pick orders using an RF device in our WMS and place them on the conveyor.
• Assist the Small Parcel Packing team by routing orders to the pack area.
• Walk carts and gurneys to the packing area and help with packing orders.
• Maintain and organize shipping supplies and manage waste and cleanup.
• Support the Freight team by labeling pallets and wrapping as needed.
• Cross-train and support other areas to maintain workflow efficiency.
• Pursue product knowledge through training and self-learning resources.
• Follow safety procedures and report dangerous conditions immediately.
• Perform additional duties to help the department meet goals.

Vortex Optics is looking for a talented individual to temporarily join our Small Parcel team this fall with an expected start date in late August/early September. In this role, you will be responsible for learning many roles within our Warehouse, which will keep the work environment dynamic and varied. Primary hours will be Wednesday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm, but additional hours and flexibility may be required.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Pick orders using an RF device in our WMS (Warehouse Management System)
• Place picked orders onto the conveyor to be conveyed to the Small Parcel Packing team
• Walk large order carts and single order gurneys up to the Small Parcel Packing team
• Pack orders using a desktop version of our WMS (Warehouse Management System)
• Maintain and organize adequate shipping supplies
• Assist the Freight team by picking orders, packing items per vendor preferences, label pallets per vendor preferences, and wrapping pallets
• Crosstrain and support other areas as needed
• Pursue and obtain product knowledge on a regular basis, both independently through available information, through training programs provided, and by asking questions
• Perform general warehouse maintenance such as cleaning, sweeping, organizing
• Follow safety procedures in accordance with approved training and reports any dangerous conditions to a member of management immediately
• Perform additional duties as assigned, working together in a cooperative manner to achieve department and company goals
